Let’s Talk Disney World! 🎡✨
When planning a vacation to Walt Disney World, the sheer volume of tips, tricks, hacks, and advice out there can be totally overwhelming. Forgive the sales pitch—but here at Wondermakers, we’ve made it super easy to get all the information you need in one place. Because let’s be real: Disney World is massive. There is SO MUCH to do, and it’s easy to get lost in the chaos of trying to pack in your “perfect” vacation.
As a Florida resident and longtime Annual Passholder, I visit Disney World a lot. I’ve had my pass for years and—believe it or not—I still haven’t done everything there is to do. That’s how big and ever-changing the parks are! So let me help you set some realistic expectations with these tried-and-true tips from a local.
Florida Resident Tips & Tricks 🏰
Some of these you may have heard, and some might surprise you.
1. Lower Your Expectations—but Still Expect Magic!
Everyone wants that magical Disney experience—and you will get it. There’s nothing like the joy of seeing Mickey Mouse in person! But remember, you’re not the only one expecting magic. The parks are busy, and things don’t always go as planned. Stay flexible, and focus on making the most of your magical moments.
2. Create a “Magical Bucket List”
You won’t be able to do it all in just a few days—so don’t even try! Instead, make a list of the experiences, rides, shows, and restaurants that matter most to you. Write everything down, even things you might not fit into this trip. Then, highlight your top five priorities and build your trip around those. This helps reduce the pressure and increases your chances of having meaningful, memorable experiences.
3. Expect to Eat at Weird Times
This is a big one. Want dinner at Cinderella’s Royal Table? It probably won’t be at 6 PM—unless you're visiting during a very quiet time of year (more on that in another post). Be prepared to eat at 4 PM or 8:30 PM if you want those high-demand experiences. If maintaining a normal meal schedule is more important to you, consider quick service dining or alternate table-service options. There are princess meet-and-greets all over property—not just in the castle!
4. Bring Your Own Snacks & a Refillable Water Bottle
Florida is hot all year round. Even in January or February, you can expect warm weather—and in summer, heat advisories are very real. Thankfully, Disney provides water bottle refill stations throughout the parks. Bring your own reusable bottle and pack a few healthy snacks. If you're eating at off-peak times or want to save money, these will be lifesavers.
5. Don’t Forget to Enjoy It!
This sounds obvious, but it’s often the hardest thing to remember. I constantly see families arguing, rushing from ride to ride, frantically booking Genie+ times or dinner reservations. I get it—you want to make every second count. But ask yourself: do you want your memories to be full of stress and sweat, or laughter and joy?
Slow down. Put the phone away. Take in the details. Smile. Soak up the magic.
It’s okay if you don’t do everything. Seriously, it is!
